The client brief from the Hotel Group was to propose a few rounded chairs with ergonomic comfort, versatile upholstery options and tapered black timber legs.

The architecture concept by Bates Smart was to feature a sleek, curved design that would fit within the traffic island space at Canberra Airport. Each room was to have circular window frames and a birds-eye perspective from each room. The rounded atrium and complementary lobby lounge, is as striking in shape as the Guggenheim Museum of New York.

The SONNY S LG chair by MIDJ was approved by Bates Smart and very soon production was underway for each guest room at this contemporary business traveller hotel. Leather upholstery supplied was range “Laguna Oak” by NSW Leather Company.
